ABOUT FFR

The concept behind Freeze-Frame Radio is to re-experience the 80′s one day at a time through a typical Top 40 station from the era.

In todays world, with literally thousands of musical options to choose from, people tend to forget what Top 40 radio was originally intended to do.  While most people view repetition as a negative, Top 40 radio was intended to be repetitive.  The entire purpose of the format was to provide listeners the opportunity to tune in and hear the biggest chart hits of the day.  If for example REO Speedwagon was at #1 with their latest hit you wanted a place you could tune in and hear that song within the next hour or two.

What we’re trying to accomplish with Freeze-Frame Radio is to turn back the clock exactly 30 years to the day and re-create the feeling of tuning into a top 40 radio station at the time.

We’ll play the Top 40 hits roughly once every 3 or 4 hours, filling out our mix with hit songs from the previous 10 years or so that are each played maybe once or twice a week.  ONLY songs from this date 30 years ago or longer will be played.  That means that if 30 years ago Madonna hadn’t hit the music scene she won’t be represented on Freeze-Frame Radio!

Every week as the decade progresses we add the songs that debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100.

There’s two ways to enjoy Freeze-Frame Radio.  Most people will probably just want to tune in for two or three hours at a time once or twice a week and enjoy the 30 year old mix.

But if you’re really interested in reliving the 80′s, you can make us your regular station.  It’s incredible how hearing the top 40 mix over the course of a week or two can make 30 year old songs feel like brand new hits all over again!

Either way, you’re sure to rediscover some songs you forgot about or maybe never even heard the first time around!
